Janie (Burks) Salyers age 59 of Cedar Bluff, Virginia passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2016 in Bristol, TN with her family by her side following an extended illness. She was born February 15, 1957 and was the daughter of the late Giles Emmitt Plumley, Sr. and Nola Marie Keen Plumley. She lived her life to please others. She was a devout Christian and a member of Painted Mountain Intertribal Community.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Spencer (Rick) Burks, Jr.; one brother, Gary Ryan Sparks and half-brother, Mike Mulkey.
She is survived by her husband, Chuck Salyers; one son, Rick Burks and wife Bridget of Paintlick, VA; two granddaughters, Alyssa Burks and Kaci Burks; two brothers, Darrell Sparks and wife Donna of Cedar Bluff, VA and Giles Emmitt (P-Nut) Plumley, Jr. and wife Janie of Richlands, VA; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends also survive.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 9:00 P.M. Thursday, December 29, 2016 at the Singleton Funeral Service in Cedar Bluff, Virginia. Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Friday at the Singleton Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Grady McGlothlin officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens Cemetery at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Darrell Wayne Sparks, II, Aaron Plumley, Josh Plumley, Johnny Boyd, Robbie Keene, and P.J. Shortt.
