Mrs. Peggy Welsh Hagy, age 87, of Richlands, VA passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2016.
Peggy was born on May 13, 1929, in Harrisburg, PA. She graduated from Milligan College in Elizabethton, TN in 1949. She moved with her husband, Tom, to Richlands where she became “southernized” from her northern roots. She became an educator at Richlands High School. Peggy was a member of the Richlands First Christian Church for many years. Peggy donated to many charities, most importantly the American Cancer Society.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Roberta Welsh, her husband Thomas W. (Tom) Hagy and one sister Norma Welsh Boyd. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family in her generation.
She is survived by her three children, Craig W. Hagy and wife Donna, Bill Hagy and wife Glenna and Ann Hagy Jones and husband Mike; 9 grandchildren William Andrew Hagy and wife Emily, Joshua Hagy, H.P. Gross and wife Amber, Victoria Gross and fiancée Nick Meadows, Dylan Hagy, Jared Jones Caitlyn Hagy Jordyn Jones and Will Hagy; 4 great grandchildren Haiden, Keagan, Campbell and Mia.
The family would like to thank Holston Valley Medical Center and Clinch Valley Medical Center for their excellent care and support. The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Richlands First Christion Church, PO Box 1307, Richlands, VA 24641.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 from 5:30 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Singleton Funeral Service in Cedar Bluff, VA with funeral services at 7:00 P.M. with Evangelist Bob Smith and Pastor James Horton officiating. Entombment will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum at Claypool Hill, VA at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday. Those wishing to attend the Graveside service are asked to meet at Singleton’s by 10:45 A.M. Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
