Marie Hale Hylton age 89, of Oakwood, Virginia, passed away Sunday, October 23, 2016 at her home. Born February 8, 1927 she was the daughter of the late William and Leoma Hurt Hale. She was a member of the Wilderness Tabernacle Church at Horn Mountain. She was also a member of Rowe Senior Citizens and the Grundy Senior Citizens. She was a retired school teacher at Garden Elementary School where she taught for 40 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Hylton; maternal grandparents, Mattie and Barzella Hurt; two sisters, Eva Lee Deskins and Katherine Wade; four brothers, Bobby Gene Hale, Billy Joe Hale, Jack Hale and William Hale.
Survivors include one daughter, Yvonne Grindstaff and husband Tommy of Oakwood, VA; two granddaughters, Tonya Lloyd of Charlotte, NC, and Amy Wagner and husband Josh of Kingsport, TN; one great granddaughter, Madeline Marie Wagner; one great grandson, Mason Paul Wagner; four sisters, Mildred Matney of Oakwood, VA, Elsie Boardwine of Rosedale, VA, Eulala Van Dyke and husband Gilmer of Diffance OH, Lillian Shortridge and husband Chester of Raven, VA; one brother, John Hale of Swords Creek, VA; many nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 9:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 26, 2016 with services at 7:00 P.M. at the Singleton Funeral Service in Cedar Bluff, Virginia.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, October 27 at the Singleton Funeral Service Chapel with Brother Billy Harrison and Brother Steven Hylton officiating. Burial will follow in the Boyd Cemetery at Davis Mountain, VA. Family and Friends will serve as pallbearers.
