Reverend Samuel (Sam) N. Altizer went peacefully to be with the Lord after faithfully serving him for 54 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and faithful friend to many.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Addie (McCoy) and Charles Altizer; two grandchildren, Ein and Jessica Altizer.
He was a 1956 graduate of Richlands High School. He was the Pastor of Bandy Freewill Baptist Church for 45 years. He had worked for Virginia Metal Products for 27 years. Sam always lived life to the fullest every day. Sam’s family will lovingly remember his love for them, his wonderful laugh, and his love for the Lord Jesus.
Survivors include his faithful loving wife of 58 years, Deanis Ruth Altizer; five loving children, Sandi Ruth Peters and husband Tom, Sam Altizer, Jr. and wife Lisa Lynn, Steven Altizer and wife Lisa, Charles Altizer and wife Michelle, Tony Altizer and wife Stephanie; ten loving grandchildren, Jonah Crouse, Samantha Crouse, Kristen Breedlove and husband Christopher, Tyler Altizer, Trevor Altizer, Isaac Altizer, Addie Altizer, Rebekah Altizer, Jase Bingman, Claire Bingman; one loving great grandson, Kobe.
A funeral service will be conducted 2 P.M. Wednesday, July 27, 2016 in the Singleton Funeral Service chapel, Cedar Bluff, Virginia with Rev. Roger Barnett officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens, Claypool Hill, Virginia. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 9 P.M. Tuesday at Singleton Funeral Service, Cedar Bluff, Virginia.
