Carl (Benny) Jackson, age 74 of Raven, Virginia went to be with his heavenly Father on Friday, May 28, 2016 at his home. Born March 11, 1942 he was a son of the late William (Bill) Jackson and Elizabeth Bessie Butcher Jackson. A lifelong resident of Tazewell County he was a retired coal miner and was a member of the United Mine Workers of America. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Army and lived his life with an unwavering faith in his Father in heaven. He was of the Pentecostal faith and enjoyed riding ATV’s and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Elizabeth Bessie Butcher Jackson, his first wife Eunice VanDyke Jackson and a brother Claude Jackson, Sr.
He is survived by his wife, Precellia N. Jackson; two sons, Barry Joe Coleman and wife Kathy of Doran, VA, Jeffery Brent Coleman and wife Tiffany of Rock Springs, Wyoming; one brother, Billy Jackson of Richlands, VA; five sisters, Peggy Reese and Christine Jo Brown both of Greensboro, NC , Ruth Campagna of Santa Rosa Beach, FL, Nell Fern Boyd of Kernersville, NC, and Wanda Martin of Liberty, NC; three grandchildren, Savanna Brook Coleman, T.J. Stillwell and Justin Stillwell. Benny was also blessed with nephews, nieces and extended family and friends that loved him dearly. Benny will live forever in the hearts and memories of those that loved him.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at the Singleton Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Doug Allen officiating. Entombment will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum at Claypool Hill, VA. Casey Short V.F.W. post 9640 will conduct military graveside rites. The family will receive friends after 12 Noon Tuesday at Singleton Funeral Service.
