Mazie Compton Boyd, age 85 of Honaker, Virginia, passed away Monday, April 18, 2016 at Bristol, Tennessee. Born August 18, 1930 at Swords Creek, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late John and Lou Owens.
She was a life-long member of New Garden Primitive Baptist Church. She retired from the Russell County School system after 32 years in food service.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Dallas Compton; second husband, Luther Boyd; two sons Barry Compton and Gary Compton; one brother, Lee Owens; four sisters, Elsie Whitt, Gladys Noel, Hazel Elkins and Carrie Rimmer.
She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Diecidue and husband Ron of Long Beach, CA; daughters-in-law, Barbara Compton of Tuscaloosa, AL and Vickie Compton Aldridge of Richlands, VA; seven grandchildren Todd Compton and wife Darlene, Angie Compton Stevens, Nikki Menchaca and husband Tony, Josh Diecidue and wife Lisa, Crystal Shelton and husband Jimmy, Dusty Compton and wife Amber, Kevin Compton and wife Sarah; ten great grandchildren; one great great grandson; one brother, Glen Owens and wife Greta of Honaker, VA. Several beloved nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel at Cedar Bluff, Virginia with Elder Robert Whitt and Elder Craig Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens Cemetery at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers will be grandsons and grandsons-in-law.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Wednesday at Singleton Funeral Service at Cedar Bluff, Virginia.
