James (Jim) Lloyd McGlothlin age 80 of Cedar Bluff, Virginia passed away Thursday March 31, 2016 at his home. Born November 14, 1935 he was a son of the late John and Kathleen (Cassie) Hinkle McGlothlin.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Thurman, Earnest (Cotton) and Cecil (Teadle) McGlothlin; one sister, Frances Borkey.

First and foremost he was a humble servant of the Lord and a loving caring protector of his family. He lived a self-less life for his beautiful wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild. His brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces and friends were always in his heart. He loved life! He was a 1954 graduate and senior class and student body president of Richlands' High School, Jim was a 1958 graduate of Virginia Tech Pamplin school of business serving in the corps of cadet. He was an avid Hokie for life. He was a prominent business man owning Kelsey Tire and a partner in 5 M and B company. He oversaw the operations of Druthers restaurant. Jim was past vice president of Rapoca Energy, partner of KEM and MAC coal companies, and president of Norton Coal co. He served his community through many civic organizations and was past president of the Virginia Tire Dealers Association. He has served the Presbyterian church as a Sunday school teacher, deacon, and elder.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Jo Wilson McGlothlin; four daughters, Karen Smith and husband, Randy, Richlands, Virginia, Donna White and husband, Brinson, Charlottesville, Virginia, Kathleen McGlothlin, Lebanon, Virginia, Jamie Homard and husband, David, Williamsburg, Virginia; one brother, Norman McGlothlin and wife, Mabel, Pennsylvania; one sister, Una Lee Bailey, Richlands, Virginia; one sister-in-law, Doris McGlothlin, Swords Creek, Virginia; six grandchildren, Kelly Lester and husband, Mike, James Wilson (Will) Smith, Brinson Carter White, James Walker White, Mattison Elizabeth Homard, David Grant Homard; one great-granddaughter, Avery Grayson Lester.

A funeral service will be conducted 11 A.M. Monday, April 4, 2016 at the Covenant Presbyterian Church, Claypool Hill, Virginia with Rev. Carl Howell and Dr. Paul Min officiating. Interment will follow in the Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery, Richlands, Virginia. Serving as pallbearers will be, Mike McGlothlin, Michael Lester, Randy Smith, Brinson White, David Homard, Will Smith, Brinson Carter White II, Walker White, Ronnie Wilson. David Grant Homard will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 P.M. Sunday at the Singleton Funeral Service, Cedar Bluff, Virginia.
