Mrs. Helen Stillwell, age 89, of Cedar Bluff, Virginia went to be with Jesus on Tuesday, February 9, 2016. Born December 13, 1926 at Red Ash, Virginia she was the daughter of the late James T. Lawson and Altia Evaline Keen Lawson Cox. She was a devoted Christian mother, wife and homemaker and a member of Emanuel Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Boyd McKinley Stillwell; one son Danny Ray Stillwell and step father Gilmer Cox. She was a devoted Christian mother, wife and homemaker and a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. She is the last surviving member of 22 children; brothers Donald, Jennings T., Russell, Elliot, Troy; sisters Gracie Byrd, Leatha Anders and Maggie Prather with eleven half-brother and sisters also preceding her in death.
Survivors include her sons Roger Stillwell and wife Debbie of Harpers Ferry, WVA, Darrell Stillwell and wife Carol of Paint Lick, Virginia, Wendell Stillwell of Richlands, Virginia; daughters Rita Shrewsbury and husband Clarence of Cedar Bluff, Virginia, Pamela Clark and husband Arnold of Oakwood, Virginia; fourteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren also survive.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, February 11, 2016 at Singleton Funeral Service in Cedar Bluff, Virginia.
Funeral Service for Helen Stillwell will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 12, 2016 at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff, Virginia with Pastor Jimmy Cox and Brother Jerry Welch officiating. Burial will follow in the Ball Cemetery in Raven, Virginia. Grandson will serve as pallbearers.
