Marvin E. Cline, age 88 of Road Ridge, Virginia, passed away Friday, February 5, 2016 following an extended illness. Born February 17, 1927, he was a son of the late Clarence and Exie Ball Cline. He retired from VP #1 Island Creek Coal Company and was a member of the UMWA. Marvin enjoyed farming and fishing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Velma A. Cline; two daughters, Sue Boyd and Kathy Cline; one son-in-law, Estil Boyd; three brothers, Harold Cline, Roger Johnson and Johnny Johnson.
Survivors include three sons, Melvin E. Cline and wife Patsy, Cedar Bluff, Virginia, David Cline and wife Cindy, Raven, Virginia, Ricky Cline and wife Diana, Raven, Virginia; two brothers, Otis Johnson, Raven, Virginia, Bobby Johnson and wife Marie, Raven, Virginia; seven sisters, Ann Absher, Raven, Virginia, Lois Mays, Swords Creek, Virginia, Maxine Ward, Raven, Virginia, Ruth Shortt, Claypool Hill, Virginia, Betty Lawson, Richlands, Virginia, Lucille Sisk and husband James, Claypool Hill, Virginia, Peggy Cole and husband Don, Compton Mountain, Virginia; 8 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; special friend, Ruby Newberry; many nieces and nephews also survive.
A funeral service will be conducted 2 P.M. Tuesday, February 9, 2016 in the Singleton Funeral Service Chapel, Cedar Bluff, Virginia, with Rev. Rick Whitt and Rev. Grady McGlothlin officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens, Claypool Hill, Virginia. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 9 P.M. Monday at Singleton Funeral Service, Cedar Bluff, Virginia.
